Wally had the honor of serving as director of Washington's child support agency for more than seven years. For twenty years prior to his appointment as director, he managed various aspects of the program, including information technology, policy, and training.

During his tenure as director, he and his team led Washington State's child support program from a collection agency to a public service agency, refocusing from simply transferring money from one parent to the other, to instead working with the whole family in order to improve outcomes for children and parents alike. 

• Recognized by the National Child Support Enforcement Association (NCSEA) as 2018's Outstanding Leader.
• Served as president of the National Council of Child Support Directors.
• Active committee member of NCSEA and served on NCSEA's board of directors for two terms.
